fatigue and frustration growing as the cleanup and recovery continues after hurricane sandy. >> life is still far from normal. the aftermath remains are big story. at least 90 people have died in the united states from sandy. power outages standard more than 4 million homes and businesses. some experts say that sandy may end up as the second most expensive storm in history. ranked behind hurricane katrina. >> troops and heavy equipment continued to move into the strike zone. >> the tattered road to recovery, and littered with debris. >> every single person on this block lost everything.

>> crews are clearing away what they can. supplies and support are pouring in, but there is not enough to meet the overwhelming need. >> this is not something that is going to be over until long time. >> charging stations provide survivors with a lifeline. the subway in new york is slowly coming back online. as officials race to get ready for the marathon this weekend, some are frustrated saying it is too soon and the waste of valuable resources. >> the city of new york is talking about getting water out of the battery tonneau. and preparing for a marathon. do you see that disconnect? >> in some of the hardest-hit communities, the water may be anger ut the residents' is still rising.

will be able to get back into their homes. nbc will host a benefit telethon tomorrow night at 8:00. it will be carried by all the networks of nbc universal. the benefit will feature performances by bruce springsteen, billy joel, a stain, just to name a few -- sting, just to name a few. money collected will be donated to the american red cross relief for hurricane sandy. >> travel is slowly getting back to normal. la guardia airport reopened today, but still has numerous cancellations. amtrak announced numerous service and regional service will resume tomorrow between boston and washington, d.c. subway trains were not running south of midtown or out to midtown.

greyhound and put bus are running nearly normal schedules. -- bolten bus are running at nearly normal schedules. go to wbaltv.com. getting in and around western maryland is really proving to be treacherous because of the snowfall. garrettalley toured county today. the governor says his main concern is getting help to senior citizens, the sick and disabled. fema has moved its headquarters out west. bge reports that more than 90 acres -- 90% of customers have had their power restored -- 98% of customers that have their power restored. the highest concentrations of outages are in baltimore county. >> to be zero separate water

main breaks in northeast baltimore -- two separate water main breaks in northeast baltimore had crews very busy. >> how long are they thinking traffic is going to be impacted? >> it is still not clear. public works official said it could be as many as a few days before the roads are reopened. before about 40 residences and businesses get their water restored. you can see that crews are still on the scene tonight working to restore that water main break. public works crews hard work during morning rush hour. just hours later, another break the 4600 block of york road.

>> both breaks are unrelated. they happen to occur within six or seven hours of each other. >> the culprit is one already well-known. >> one of those things that happens with old infrastructure. >> morgan state university was affected by the break, but no residences are without water. the road is closed. >> we expect it will take two more days for that to be repaired. >> on york road, 40 homes and businesses are without water. one of them is a day care which had to be evacuated. another is the movie lounge. >> we open at 40 -- we open at 4:00. we cannot serve anything without water. >> official said they're working hard to improve the infrastructure, replacing pipes

commissioner says his department will not tolerate criminal wrongdoing or corruption. >> city homicide detective said member arrest in northeast baltimore. the 16-year-old is in custody tonight in connection to the killing of the 41-year-old michael allen. police found him suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. he was taken to the hospital where he later died. officials in anne arundel county set the middle school student brought a loaded begun to school. -- bb gun to school. the principal said officials learned the student had apparently threatened at least two students and warned them not to tell anyone that he had a gun. that student was taken into custody. >> police are looking for a man responsible for a sex offense against a six-year-old girl.

it allegedly happened inside the family dollar stores. we're live at police headquarters with details. >> investigators say he approached this little girl as she stood in line with adult family member. investigators got the suspects picture from a surveillance picture. sometime during his trip to the store on october 21, the man walked up to a six-year-old girl and sexually assaulted her. >> the victim was standing in line with a family member when an unknown individual sexually assaulting her. >> investigators did not go into specific details of the attack, but employees try to stop the man as he ran out of the store. >> i am shocked, but i am not, because those things happen around your a lot.

up there just to the east of eastern canada. along with that comes the cool air and an occasional scattered showers. with a counterclockwise circulation, it is being pulled down into the mid-atlantic. only 38 degrees in pittsburgh. 48 at the airport. 51 downtown. ocean city is in the 40's. weather disturbances coming in will trigger an occasional shower. a few more snow showers in the mountains of to our last. iran baltimore, 37 -- around baltimore, 37. the swirl of clouds that is sandy, still in place for tomorrow, that drags another front through the area.

that means our temperatures stay below normal going into the upcoming weekend. a sprinkle or a shower in the morning, a little break in the cloud cover in the afternoon. a little more sunshine expected saturday, the best day of the weekend. our next real chance for any major precipitation hold off until the middle of next week. for tomorrow, a 51-56 degrees. a small craft advisory remains on the bay tomorrow. in the western maryland mountains, this note is winding down. a few more snow showers tonight. maybe a flurry tomorrow. temperatures into the weekend only in the 30's in western maryland. 50's on the eastern shore. kind of breezy through the
